Change Project

My concentration in the MA in Organizational Leadership was in Change Management. I decided to use the learnings from the program to design a change model for my organization. I used Design Thinking as the foundation for the model and added key components and learnings from the course work to outline a change model that reflects my organization’s values and principles. Outlined below is a summary of the process and link to the materials. The model actualized in two different documents: Change Standard Operating Procedure and the corresponding Change Management Training materials.

Background

Change is ever constant in today’s business environment, especially as industries emerge from the post pandemic environment. The hospitality industry was impacted greatly, requiring organizations to examine their current practices and alter them to meet the new demands of the workforce. This was reflected in my organization, as we continually make strides to adjust our employee programs and policies to remain relevant, an employer of choice and meet employee's needs.

Materials

The Change Management Standard Operating Procedure (Change SOP) and Change Management Training are designed to assist leaders when they navigate and implement change within their organization. Both were both developed to be used as a guideline to help mitigate risks as leaders manage through change or a change initiative. There is not a set blueprint or policy on how to navigate through change, but rather best practices and tools that can assist with navigating the change.

Change Management Training

The Change Management Training was designed to be guided detailed training to train leaders in the change process.  The training includes guided exercises and materials that I found useful with change management, including key components from my learnings and experiences. The training deck is meant to be conducted by a trainer, who is competent with the concepts, to engage in meaningful dialogue, incite collaboration, and to transform thought process around change with the participants.

Change Management SOP

The Change SOP is meant to be used as a quick reference guide that leaders can refer to.   It is also to be used as a supplemental document for the training.
